This update has information about the overall schedule, travel planning, and recommended hotel option for those attending from out of town.

Travel Planning and Schedule Overview

The symposium will take place on June 4 and June 5, 2026, on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. For travel planning, please note that we plan to be in session for the full day of June 4, and on June 5, we will end mid-afternoon around 3:00 PM. We hope this end time will give us a full day of discussion on June 5, but will also allow those wishing to travel home in the afternoon to make travel plans. We invite those able to stay until June 5 to enjoy the summer vibes of Ann Arbor, and we are planning to offer an informal, no-host social option to continue conversing and networking amongst those who will be in town.

Symposium Location

The symposium will be held at the Dow Event Space at the School of Information (on the fourth floor of the Leinweber Computer and Information Science Building at 2200 Hayward Street). Please find information about UMSI’s location here.

Lodging

As folks are making travel plans, please note that we have arranged for a block of rooms at The Residence Inn Ann Arbor Downtown at 120 W. Huron Street in Ann Arbor. The block has rooms for $231 per night.

If you are booking through Collegiate Travel Planners, they should have information about the room block. If you are booking directly, please mention that you are part of the group participating in the “Archivists in the Loop” symposium at the School of Information & Bentley Historical Library.
